The custom of Moshiach Seudah began with the Baal Shem Tov, the founder of the Chasidic movement. He explained that as the first days of Pesach deal with the redemption from Egypt, the last days of the holiday focus on the ultimate redemption by Moshiach. He would make a festive meal at the close of the holiday, dedicated to the coming of Moshiach. Since then Jews throughout the world come together on the last day of Pesach to celebrate this unique custom.
